maybe not oval shaped enough but can anyone ID this species - seen quite commonly on trees in SW london this time of year, size about 4mm:

This is Kleidocerys resedae (Lygaeidae), living on birchs. During the cold season often found at houses etc.

In the UK there are also Kleidocerys ericae which is very similar ...

K. ericae is almost totally restricted to heather. So, although the size straddles both possibilities, I'd go for K. resedae given that this is on trees.
