Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Eumerus cf. aurifrons
#1
8 mm - not common locally - Northern Bangkok. Very distinctive - especially the eyes. The venation on the wings is not as clear as I would like.
Thanks

I would guess that it is Syrphidae but wing venation should be definitive if we could see it a bit clearer

Looking at 50+ images of European Syriphidae it is a general match to several genera but i can find no eyes to match - is that just a distraction?
Thanks

I am impressed - you got it! or a close relative. Web says India and Sri Lanka which means to expect it here also. The web is wonderful but it really helps to have a name.
Much obliged.

Keep it as a Eumerus cf aurifrons. I know there are some similar species in the region....
