Hi
I collected some seaweed flies from the strandline of a beach on the south Devon coast on 18/03/13.
Coelopa frigida and
Coelopa pilipes are reported to be the most abundant seaweed flies at this site so i guess it could be one of them, however i'm struggling to find information on how to distinguish them. Also if anyone knows if this is a male or female and how you tell the difference that would be extremely helpful. (In the attached photo i have removed the back legs in order to give a clearer view of the abdomen.)
Thanks
Hannah
