Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Large Tipula(?), Java, Indonesia

Hi all,

Okay, so I decided to quickly sort my other Tipuloidea from Java too. Not really expecting an ID, but hey, maybe someone has use for the images Wink

For this one I'm suspecting Tipula sp.. Rather large, body length around 25-30mm, wingspan around 50mm.

At light on hotel veranda, mountain area, Sarangan, Java, IDN, 2010-08-18

I think it's unlikely that this Nearctic species occurs in Indonesia. The photos appear to show some strong markings on the wings, which is not a feature of H. hespera either.
