I photographed this fly in our garden pond this afternoon sitting on a leaf of Potogameton natans. It moved from leaf to leaf for about two or three minutes with short stops in between and then flew away. To me it looks like a Syrphidae species (correct me if I'm wrong). I would be grateful for your help and comments.

Syrphidae is correct, genus is Helophilus (Sumpfschwebfliege), species is H. hybridus. Helpful websites to compare our native Helophilus species are http://www.insect...?article25 and http://www.natur-...W-224.html. Lost of Syrphidae photos you find here: http://www.rutkie...Syrphidae/.
