I have just returned from the Rhodes island. In one small cavity, some big Syrphidae estivate in bigger numbers. They were Milesia crabroniformis and Volucella zonaria. Do anybody know any literature about this phenomenon? Moreover, Volucella zonaria is not listed from the Dodecanese islands (where Rhodes belongs) in Fauna Europaea. Is myrecord forst from the Rhodes island or I found one og gaps in FaEu?
Many thanks for all replies.
