Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Helophilus or Parhelophilus? (23.08.13) --> Helophilus pendulus (f)

Hello!

I thought, this was Helophilus pendulus, but it had no white(ish) markings. At a hedge, northwest Germany.

There are "whitish" markings on tergites which are present in Helophilus and Parhelophus each. Do you mean other markings? It is a female of Helophilus pendulus.

I mean the smaller markings nearer to the end (see red lines on picture below). In the "normal" H. pendulus I know, they are much lighter than the rest of the markings (and nearly white in H. trivittatus). On this specimen all markings are of the same colour.

It is a female of Helophilus pendulus.
