In the mountains of Colorado, USA August 10, 2013. The common local species of Bombus have similar color.

This is a male Sericomyia (subgenus Arctophila) flagrans.

Thank you. The Sericomyia where I live are yellow-banded wasp mimics, not hairy bee mimics.

Well, same here in Europe. But that is because here Arctophila is still considered being a separate genus, not a subgenus of Sercomyia. We have two species of Arctophila here (bombiformis and mussitans), both hairy bee mimics...
