I'd be grateful if anyone could ID this Cranefly, maybe a Tipula sp. photographed clinging to a reed stem in a UK pond in early May.

c. 2cm body 7th May 2013, Wiltshire, UK

Tipula (Tipula). do you have other angles? That would allow to see if wing are longer than abdomen or underside of the eyes.

Many thanks for your response. Sorry I have no very different angles as I was wading in a pond at the time and could go no deeper and the fly soon flew off. I'm posting a slightly different angle with the body more vertical, and although the wings are open I estimate that the wings are a little shorter than the body or maybe the same length, but not longer.

I will also attach a close up crop of the eye, but not from below. Hoping these help.

If you cant be sure of species, please do tell me which ones you think are possible. Maybe from time of year (early May in a cold spring) or habitat (freshwater pond) and previous records for Wiltshire, UK, I can work out which one is most likely .
