Number 4 of 5 fly species that I photographed in Panama (feb 2012) but have not yet been able to identify.
Shot taken in Bastimentos, Panama.

Syrphidae, probably
Toxomerus
. In North America these are some of the most common Syrphidae.

Yes, a female Toxomerus sp. There are a lot of species (also undescribed) in the neotropics....
