Around 11,5 mm. body lenght. The thin and arched crescents are quite rare in this species for me. Most similar I know would be Eupeodes luniger, so could be a related species (?). Picture taken in Gojar, at 800 m. on 01/12/2013.

The curved vein R4+5 and the hairy eyes indicate this is a Scaeva species. The hairs on the eyes are quite short, and the frons is not as swollen as in S. selenitica, so I would say this is S. dignota. Moreover, in S. selenitica, the spots on the tergites usually do not reach the side margin, as they do in this specimen.
