Hello,

can something be said about this tachinid? (Genus or species perhaps?) (Found in germany, size about 8mm)

Looks a bit like Thelaira solivaga, but do you have any different angles? Perhaps a shot taken from the side?

It's a Thelaira indeed, either nigripes or solivaga

Hello,

unfortunately I don't have another picture.

All pictures of Thelaira I found in the net show flies with black and gray patterns. This one has those very orange colored sides. Is Thelaira so variable?

The colour of the abdomen is very variable Sad Actually the other key features are also variable but if you have 'typical' specimens then it is usually possible to arrive at a fairly confident identification Smile

Ok, thank you for your replies. I will put the fly into the directory Thelaira spec.. I thought it was a nice fly with those grey stripes on the side of the neck. My wife did not want to look at it...
