Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Nice bluish Tachinid (?) with red eyes
#1
I found this one at Leerdam, Netherlands today. Length was appr. 8-10 mm. The eyes have yellowish hairs on them. The arista are bare. I think it must be a Tachinid, although in some respects it's more like Calliphoridae. Does anyone know this beautiful fly? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Most tachinids I leave to Theo and Chris, but I've been right with
Epicampocera succincta before. So that's my suggestion!

Thanks for that suggestion, Tony!

Tony is right again !
Bluish Tachinidae, in most cases, are either E. succincta (dark legs, clavate palpi esp. in female) or Pales pavida (reddish tibiae, red tip to scutellum).
See also thread on this subject some months ago.
