This was found recently by Sabena Blackbird near Liverpool. It looks similar to some other posted here recently but it is a bit too anonymous for me

I'm not at home now, so I can't check, but it seems to be a Blondeliini, in which case Oswaldia (muscaria) comes in mind.

Hi Theo, That's a possibility - I haven't caught many of those myself but I do remember those are quite anonymous. Which features are you using to guess Blondeliini?

Well, I would call it jizz rather than feature (don't try this at home !):
* elongated abdomen
* curved bend of vein M
* and esp. the fact that the bend is so close to the wing margin
* lack of apical scutellar bristles

All these are non conclusion, however, the combination suggests Blondeliini

I think Dima means my new camera ... but this was photographed by someone else I would like a few more tachinids and sarcophagids to photograph but we need some better weather first
