Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Dasyphora ?

Hi flyforum,

First I though of Calliphoridae sp. (female Lucilia ?), but when I got a better look it wasn't a Calliphoridae sp.

I think it is a Muscidae sp., perhabs Dasyphora?
size: 10-15mm,
place: Amsterdam Forest (reet near water)

The fly'lunch was some bird s h i t, special menu? Pfft

It would be nice if someone can give me some help after get lost in these flies..

I rather think it is Calliphoridae. May be Bellardia?

Impressive fly! With such a curved M it has to be Calliphoridae, but not Bellardia.
May be Protocalliphora? I never seen Protocalliphora...

Andrey Ozerov confirmed that it is Protocalliphora azurea.

Thank you very much Nikita and Andrey Ozerov for determination!

These flies lives into some birdnests on the birdyoungs, where they suck blood (the larva)Shock
So that bird s h i t was a close detail of it's behaviour anyway?

Also I am not familiar with these kind of flies, I got the feeling of a special fly.. Wink
