Thanks to you both. I'm happy knowing that it is a Conopid;
Myopa seems a possibility with 14 spp. in NA;
Sicus doesn't seem to occur in NA.

It's a Myopa indeed, the gena are high (less so in Sicus).
But I agree with Jorge that the first impression is that of Sicus.
In our world, this would imply M. dorsalis.
But in your new world ...?
