Northern Germany, Hamburg-Rissen, Schnaakenmoor, at a trunk of a birch tree, Outsidefoto: kuv, 11th of May 2015. Comparing the pictures in the gallery I think it could be Brachyopa bicolor. Right? Please help for ID.

Hello kuv,

I think that bicolor is correct. I'm not an expert and i am new to this genus. If noone objects, then it is safe to name it B. bicolor. I think that only B. insensilis is a problem easily separated by the presence of long bristles at the apex of t3.

Best wishes,
John
