Hello,

Following the Séguy's key, my guess is that this Dioctria could be a D. atricapilla ...


What do you think about this guess ?

Loire Atlantique, western France, June 13 2015.
about 9 mm ...

Pretty sure you are right! It is a very dark legged one. (Edit) That sounds silly : ) what i have written. What i meant is that this is Dioctria hyalipennis with very dark legs

Looking at another view of this robertfly I was now actually asking myself "couldn't it be D. hyalipennis rather than D. atricapilla ?" judging by comparison with pictures of a french gallery's entomo forum ...

So I came back to this diptera forum to check this out ... and I found your EDIT !TumbsUp



So I was wrong => this is a Dioctria hyalipennis female ?Wink

I am sure it is... : ). According Bosak Hradsky, the alternative D. baumhaueri should have black occiptal bristles and this one has light coloured ones.
