A few days ago I posted a photograph that turned out to be
Senotainia conica, most likely. This fly looks a bit similar, but also dissimilar enough to think it might not be Senotania. Also, my wasp book mentions the name
Metopia for very similar flies...
So my questions are: which one is this, what are distinguishing features, and is
Metopia a synonim or a different genus?

First one is a Sarcophagid, Mitogramminae - Liekele will be able to say which

I think the second is an anthomyiid but it could be a muscid that I don't know. Note that vein M is straight, not bent. All the sarcophagids have a bent vein M.
