Hello everyone,

I wonder if this little guy is Philorus sp.? I used several keys, but i'm still not sure about identification. I will add better photos later.

Hello atylotus,

Yes, it was collected from eastern black sea region of turkey (Anzer), i used the Zwick and Arefina (2005), Zwick (1976), Zwick (2004) (in Freshwater Invertebrates of Malaysian Region) and Courtney's online key (http://www.ent.iastate.edu/dept/research/systematics/bleph/keys/) for the identification. I need Zwick (1972) and can't find it.

Koçak & Kemal (2012, 2013) lists 12 species of Bleph from Turkey: 2 Apistomyia, 1 Blepharicera and 9 species of Liponeura. So no species of Philorus. I couldn't find a key, sorry. Are you on Researchgate.net ? If not, I can recommend it. However, I can send you Koçak & Kemal (2012, 2013) as PDF if you like, downloaded it from researchgate.net

Yes i'm a member of Research Gate, i will search koçak&kemal. It's really hard to find a good key for Turkey and especially if you're working with immature stages.

Thank you for your interest atylotus. Smile

There is also Zwick (1988) for Turkey: http://retro.seal...88:61::426.
The larva looks like the one illustrated in Die Fliegen and identified as Liponeura sp. from Zchenes-Zchali river (Tskhenistsqali) near the village Cvelieri (Chvelieri 42° 50' 39" N, 042° 50' 43" E /
42.844282, 42.845394).

Hello Paul,

I read Zwick (1988), but there is no key for larvae identification, and i'm really surprised when i saw Dr. Nilgun Kazanci's name in this paper, because she is my advisor. Smile

the keys i used for identification aren't include the Liponeura genus, so i will search for different keys. In Zwick (1972), he gave a larval key for Turkey fauna, but i can't find this paper anywhere online. Sad

perhaps you should try to contact Peter Zwick, he is on researchgate, although I do not know how active he is (see: https://www.resea...eter_Zwick). I'm only guessing that this paper will only deal with the adults, not larva.

Thank you for your interest Paul, and i've already request the paper but he doesn't reply yet. I think, he is not very active on RG. And that paper (1972) Zwick gave 4. instar larvae key (he mention in Zwick (1988)), but he admits that it's not very usefull.

Thank you for all the efforts. Smile
