A very hairy little fly with the looks of Lonchaeidae, but the wings don't seem to fit. Angry

André, that is a Syrphid Wink My bet is on a male Psilota anthracina. However, not my area of expertise Wink Better wait for more opinions...

Hi Pilu,

Didn't see that one coming!!! awkward awkward

So, Wednesday, instead of 2 new genera of Syrphidae, I have 3. And just in a couple of minutes, and on the same flower. Smile

Muchísimas gracias! TumbsUp

Yes, that is a male Psilota.
Recently, several new species have been described (see Smit & Zeegers and Smit & Vujic), so it will be very challenging to get an ID on this male. Get Psilota in the title and wait for John Smit (or send him an email !).

Very interesting indeed. TumbsUp I will leave the title in "Psilota sp." and if there is no answer today, tomorrow I will send John an e-mail. Wink

Bedankt, Theo!!!
