Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Chironomidae id

This mosquito (at least looks like one to me...) was photographed by Narc?s Rubio at Girona, Catalonia last march.

Does anyone know anything about its possible id?

Not Culicidae, but Chironomidae (characteristic attitude of the forelegs).

Thanks very much! There are not many photos of Chironomidae, so I guess it must be a difficult subject!

There are about 1000 Chironomidae species here in Central Europe alone. Don't know how many in the south.
