HI!
I found larvae that I'm not sure about genus. Can you take a look and try to resolve this problem? Shock

I found larvae in Place PerĂº South America, 3000 mssl, habitad aquatic in Andean streams

The nearest I can suggest is Discomyza incurva. It would help to know where the specimen was found (country and habitat).Wink

Thanks for the information. Tadeusz Zatwarnicki has had a look at the picture and does not recognise it, so my suggestion would be to try to rear some adults.

I agree with Tony. You can only be sure when you have the associated adults. I have checked with Ferrar (1997) and it somehow resembles the pupa of Placopsidella cynocephala as depicted in fig 32.174 on page 678. I'm not saying that it is, but only that it has some similar lateral extensions
