Hello,
i'm from Germany and new here. I have a question: I need literature on the aquatic larvae of Ceratopogonidae, Empididae (Chelifera) and Psychoptera. I have found several larvae in water-filled tree holes. Can someone help me?
Many thanks, Holger Mueller

In the Netherlands we use this list of references:
http://www.wew.nu...mmer21.pdf
However, Ceratopogonidae and Empididae are missing in this list for it is not customary to ID the larvae. For Ceratopogonidae you can use the papers by Glukhova (1979) or the translations by the Canadian secretary of States or the one by Hribar & Steyskal (1990). Some authors describe a specific genus like Kettle & Lawson (1952) on Culicoides or several papers by Szadziewski and co-authors. Borkent (2014) gives an account on Ceratopogonidae pupa in Zootaxa 3879. For Empididae there is hardly anything except already published in Nillson which is copied from Niesiolowski (1990). I can only recommend three other books: Tsalolokhin ed. (1999). key to freshwaterinvertebrates from Russia and adjacent lands. part 4: Diptera. St. Petersburg, but this book is hard to come by; the recent publication by Faasch (2015): see
http://www.dipter...d_id=67776 which is much easier and the Czech book by Rozkosny (ed.) (1980) on aquatic invertebrates from the Czech Republ. However, the latter book gives questionable diagnosctic features.
If necessary I can send you PDF of papers and books.
