August 11, 2007, Ozhigovo station, Naro-Fominsk district, Moscow region. On the trunk of a fallen aspen. Size 4 to 5 mm. An occasional shot with two flies, first I thought it's courtship, with all that wing rotation and running to and fro, but it's two females of different sizes in same territory (unless the smaller one is a very special male that lays eggs Wink).

Yesterday caught 3 and saw even more. They are seldom seen on the trunk and prefer areas at the base of thick branches.
