Does anyone rcognise this crane-fly ?
I think it could be one of the Ptychopteridae, but have not seen many images of this group. Found in wet woodland (Farlington Marshes, Hampshire) on 13th August

Hi Stuart,
Your photo seems a good match for my specimens of Ptychoptera albimana, a species that I've also recorded from the south Hants coast (but it is widespread right across the UK). Alan Stubbs's key draws attention to the organge markings on the abdomen, and the whitish-yellow basal segment of the hind tarsus (none of the other species for which I have specimens have this pale tarsal segment). The pale scutellum and relatively un-marked wings also fit.
Cheers,
Martin
