I saw this dark Tachinid today in Amstelveen. Size of
Tachina fera
. Habitat: rough grass land, approx chest high, with lots of Hogweed (where it is on in the photographs). Surrounded by suburb. Is it IDable?

You changed wisely Susan
Very hairy eyes, projecting mouth-edge, dark basicosta. I'd need to see the male genitalia to be sure of the species though

Given the paucity of dark hairs on occiput and the lack of dusting on tergite 4, this is Eu. anthophila (by far the most common species here).
