Hello,
Seen in Savoy (France), 2007/7/21, 1750 m above sea, size about 10 mm, this Syrphid.
I can't find a match in my books. Thanks in advance for any clues.

Yes, and I'd go for a male of Melangyna labiatarum!

Yes, labiatarum and compositarum were long time considered to be two distinct species, but nowadays the idea is they are 1 species: compositarum!
