Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Sericomyia militaris?

Hello! Observation from October 2nd, 2017, on Vancouver Island/Canada. Habitat: on the edge of the wood next to the beach (Long Beach, Pacific Rim National Park). Is it Sericomyia militaris? Thank you in advance!

Probably Sericomyia militaris. The first pair of pale marks is much stronger than usual. Skevington and Thompson (2012) did not record the species from Vancouver Island.
