Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Really, really tiny midges #3: Sciaridae?

Hello!

Another 1-1.5 mm midge from yesterday night in the garden (Ostwestfalen/Germany). Does it belong to family Sciaridae? Thanks!


This one was "larger", about 2 mm:

There are a few cecids with venation and antennae like this. The easiest way to tell them from sciarids is whether they have tibial spurs or not.
With spurs = Sciaridae. Without spurs = Cecidomyiidae.

I wouldn't like to say from these photos - the ends of the tibiae are just out of focus.
