One of the New World
Nephrotoma species recently found in Spain.

Well well. Didn't expect that. And less in this village far from the main routes.
But apparently no problem for this couple, busy making a numerous offspring.

"N. ferruginea is known from southern Spain and N. s. wulpiana from Spain (Valencia) and Portugal (Algarve).
N. ferruginea has two small spots at the upper side of the lateral thorax (fig. 5 in Oosterbroek 1984, PDF also available). N. s. wulpiana has only the upper one (as on the two above photo on Diptera-info).
In N. s. wulpiana the posterior end of the mid-dorsal thoracic stripe is darkened and continues into the thoracic suture."

I found some perfect photos of both species, but I am not sure what black spot we are talking about to separate the two species.

And I include cropped photo of my specimen. Not perfect because I couldn't get any nearer.
