A friend who is a bee expert suggested Micropezidae. The Micropezid expert said no, but suggested Chironomidae. The Chironomid expert said no, but possibly a Tabanid (only a guess really, he added). No one will claim this poor fly.
Time to submit it to many experts at once here on diptera.info.
The place was Berg en Dal in Suriname, and the date 18 June 2014. Habitat was tropical forest, and the fly came to lights. Ideas?
