PS Looking it up, I got the answer to a question that had puzzled me for a while : When on vacation in the Southwest of France a few years ago, I was talking to a truffle "hunter" who told me that, in the region, they search for truffles " a la mouche" (with the fly). They spot a "small golden fly" he said, who hovers above the spots where a ripe truffle is located.
I now see that the fly in question belongs to the genus Suillia, and the picture in the article I found is very much indeed like this one...
