Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Helophilus

Hello
this seems to be a Helophilus sp., but which one? I found it today on Taraxacum agg. at Lake Thun, Switzerland.

Looks rather like trivittatus, but the facial stripe is a bit dark - not sure whether there are other species in Switzerland that look like it. Frown

On the Swiss List we have: H. affinis, hybridus, parallelus, pendulus. In the same place as I found the above shown one I found many H. trivittatus (=parallelus) but they were not so dark.
So a dark female of H. trivittatus?

My immediate thought was Anasymia. Are all Helophilus not strongly black and yellowy orange with just a bit of grey?

Thats how they normally look (I think). Same place nearly same time.

Last pictures show typical H. trivittatus. The Helophilus on first series should rather be a female H. affinis (indeed facial stripe seems dark, tergites don't have any yellow on their hind margin and spots on T3 are well separated from front margin).
