Why not Tolmerus atricapillus? It is a female and they are very hard to ID.

You are not fly-blind

the problem is that these Tolmerus females are pretty difficult to identify properly. T. atricapillus is a rather common species, the other two (strandi/micans) are rather rare. If you find accompanying males that would help to narrow it down.

Understand - most common almost makes most sense
