Hello!

I did not see a Phasia for weeks now (Ostwestfalen/Germany), and I never had one at night at the light. So I was surprised about this only 3-3.5 mm long visitor last night. Is it P. obesa or are other species likely? Thanks in advance!

More likely to be Phasia pusilla or barbifrons (it is undusted and very small) - my money is on barbifrons (the frons/face is dark in colour and it looks like there are hairs between the eyes and the bristles ... but it would be nice to see if it has yellow haltares. Coincidentally, I had P.barbifrons at light many years ago.

Thanks a lot! Very strange this year... At the same light session I also found a small Geometrid moth bound to be flying in July/August, but in a lepidoptera forum appear sightings of noctuids (genus Orthosia) which are typical early spring species (February to April)... On the other side the autumn species are still missing here.

But meanwhile the night temperatures reach 0 ?C, so I don't expect many late summer diptera any more...
