Is there something about facial characters that may provide ID for this creature? From Gammel Have, old broadleaf forest N of Haderslev, Denmark, 25 June 2018.

Hi Karsten, from what I can see, I'd vote for C. femorata (face: silver hair, body & legs black, quite common).
(see Wolff, Gebel, Geller-Grimm "Die Raubfliegen Deutschlands"Wink

Thank you Eric. I read on robberflies.info that males of femorata have white facial hairs in contrast to yellowish ones in marginata males. http://www.robberflies.info/keyger/htmle/keychoerades.html#4 But I am not sure of the sex of this fly...

Hi Karsten, I've an image of a copulating couple C. femorata with both sexes having silver white hair...
And my marginata both show golden yellow hair in the face.

Thanks a lot - I feel acertained that my slender animal is a male femorata. :-)
