Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Ephydridae, Parydra aquila from Romania

Hi,

last weekend (27.october.2007) i was in a small reserve from Romania.
Turda Gorges, limestone area, 500->700m.
collected from vegetation close to water edge.

i think is some kind of Parydra but i don't know to go furter.
any further identification is possible? need to prepare genitalia?
photo of mounted specimens, only one found.

It's always wise to, at least, pull the genitalia out. Bend them away from the body, so ventral side becomes visible.

i tried but without succes. but i will have that in mind for future.

Yes, I agree - it is aquila (or some closely-related, undescribed, Romanian sibling species Wink)
