Hello,
is there " simple" way to distinguish wing venation Lauxaniidae vs. Anthomyiidae (there are several which appear tbe the same). Any paper you may reccommend to read or some tips.
Regards
Lothar
They are very similar. The anal vein of Lauxaniidae is usually (possibly always) incomplete, and there are slight differences around the tip of the subcosta.

Without digging into the literature I do not know the 'formal' differences, but anthomyid wings tend to be broadest near the base ('triangular'

, those of lauxaniids tend to be broadest near the middle ('ovoid'

. Crossvein dm-cu in anthomyiids usually is closer to the tip of the wing than in lauxaniids.
