Location: Near Stockholm, Sweden
Date: 2007-OCT-13
Habitat: Park (Cemetary) with coniferous tree, near "water container"
Size: I'm guessing it was ~5 mm
I think this is a pupa (or maybe even a larva). I guess it could be a diptera, but as I don't know I put it here. The two "knobs" in the back reminds me of what was on the Syrphidae larvae.

Thank you Tony! I also checked with Graham Rotheray:
"Yes it is a Dasysyrphus larva, possibly venustus complex. If it had been a puparium, it would have been short, rounded and pear-shaped. Dasysyrphus larvae are usually associated with aphids on trees rather than aphids on ground level herbaceous plants."
I wonder which species is in the Dasysyrphus venustus complex?

In M.P. van Veen, I read :
D. venustus and D. hilaris may be found to hide a species complex in the future.
