Simulium. About 10 subgenera have the base of vein R without hairs dorsally. |

The second fly is probably the same genus. I don't remember a picture here from Europe of any genus of Simuliidae other than Simulium. In North America we have some other common genera early in the year, with Simulium dominating late. |
