Pollenia cf. labialis
Ray Perry
Seen very busily foraging on patches of invasive Solidago gigantea next to a well-wooded stream flowing through open meadows. A common fly on sunny summer days.

Hi Ray, it's not amentaria and not vagabunda and if my eyes don't deceive me and basicosta is black, posterior spiracle is dark brown I guess it could be P. labialis. To be more confident you need very sharp photos - an older and less hairy fly could help to see all the important bristles.

Hello Ray,

just a short remark. It is not cf. Pollenia labialis, but Pollenia cf. labialis, because the genus Pollenia is not doubtful, only the species labialis.
Best regards,
Jürgen
