Eustalomyia ? -> E. histrio
Axel D
Fly found today in my garden. I think it's a male Eustalomyia and the arista is short-haired. Therefore, Eustalomyia histrio ?

Rosny-sous-Bois, Seine-Saint-Denis, Île-de-France, France.
25th of April 2022
Body length : 9-10 mm

I have kept the fly for further examination if needed.

Left hind leg : I think there are 11-13 av setae (12 for E. histrio as mentionned in this topic). Do you agree ?

Any idea please ?

Yes, you are right if you are in the correct genus, as it seems because the scutellum here has darkened lateral areas. The about 4 (or are there any more southern ones?) Northern and Central European Eustalomyia species belong to the easier part of Anthomyiidae.

Thank you for your answer.

I don't know if there are other very close genera in France but I don't think so.

In genus Eustalomyia, no more species than the 4 mentionned in the other topic are known in French mainland according to our national taxonomic database.

Therefore I think I can retrain Eustalomyia histrio for my fly.
