Stratiomyidae - Chloromyia?? East Europe
JCobain
Hi All,

I am using Stubbs 2001 British Soldierflies and their Allies to identify these, they are coming up as Stratiomyidae - Chloromyia formosa, but i don't think this can be correct because these should be metallic blue/green (i also have a lot of these metallic species which do fit the Chloromyia formosa description). They really resemble some Stratiomys species like singularior, but these have no scutellar spines or elongated first antennal segment that this species should have....

These have no spines on the scutellum margin, about 11mm, eyes hairy in males and females, first antennal segment short. Oval dark abdomen with small yellow markings

I'm very grateful if someone could point me in the right direction here!
Thanks

I would compare Lasiopa.

Zeegers
Yes, this is a Lasiopa, in Europe strictly eastern and therefore not mentioned in any western book. There is a note in my book (to appear in English translation very soon). It is mentioned in the old “Tierwelt Deutschlands”, freely available online (straiomyiidae chapter by Erwin Lindner, I think)
