Rhagio with bicolor stigma
clovis
Hi,

Here is a Rhagio from southern Alps I collected during this spring.
With bicolor stigma, it should be either R maculatus or R immaculatus (Or R chrysostigma, but thorax has some black).

Would you make it a dark R immaculatus? It doesn't have the black ring on femur one of R maculatus, but neither the abdominal pattern of R immaculatus

i need to consider the options.

So, you got 'only' one specimen ?
The only reason I see why it should not be Rh. maculatus is because of the yellow front femur. If that is the only reason, I'd consider it for now an aberrant maculatus, till more turn up.

Only one sadly! Frown
I'll stay on aberrant R maculatus then! Many thanks for your opinion. Smile

If you check waarnemingen.be for males of maculatus, you find that a vague or faded dark ring on front femur is actually quite common.
