Syritta sp. or Neoascia sp.
lweit
This two syrphid are Syritta sp. or Neoascia sp., the end of the body is not the same as in my last message on the image 2 and 3 ??

lweit
A second photo of this syrphid.

Hi lweit.
In my key Syritta and Neoascia separate on teza:
Syritta - rm after middle of d cell
Neoascia - rm before middle of d cell.
For me this caracter isn't visible on this flies.
For me it is both Syritta, but I don't know why.

Nikita Vikhrev
No, teza is part of dihotomic key, for example:
23. rm after middle of d cell - go to 35;
rm before middle of d cell - go to 24;

Nikita where have you find this key, in a book ??

Nikita Vikhrev
Book. 1970, Diptera of European part of Soviet Union, in two large voluems.
Key is old, for example, Eupeodes lapponicus is Syrphus lapponicus. But the main problem is that it is in Russian.
If you read Russian I can send you CD copy.
