Found in my garden last week running about on Foxglove (Digitalis) leaves. Size <2mm max. Identifiable? Edited by Roger Thomason on 15-07-2009 23:43 |

I´d say its an Ichneumonoid from the genera Gelis, but there are quite many species around. Pretty common sight. |

I know they are a common sight Viktor, most things sent to the Forum are common somewhere....According to the Checklist I am working Ichneumon suspiciosus is the only one mentioned....I have found loads of others, most of which I have had some kind of determination done on them. This is another in the process of seeing which Ich. wasps can be found in Shetland. Genera Gelis is a start....hope to get further. Regards Roger Edited by Roger Thomason on 07-07-2009 18:22 |

Oh I completely forgot that you where on Shetland! Of course this makes my comment about Gelis being a "common sight" a totally irrelevant one - island biogeography is a wonderful thing and you can never know what there is and what is lacking before you find out! Good look with those Ich's, Viktor Edited by viktor j nilsson on 07-07-2009 20:35 |

Hi Viktor I suppose a lot of these things have been arriving with imported garden plants. Up until about 30 odd years ago most people who made gardens just shared cuttings etc., but then plants started to arrive from garden centres in Mainland UK and Dutch Imports etc. I'm just trying to record what is here in my own garden for now, and then other places in the Isles. Could take a while. Regards Roger Edited by Roger Thomason on 07-07-2009 21:18 |

But you can KEEP THEM , and any past, present or future photo's of mine you deem good enough to be put in your Gallery. Regards Roger Edited by Roger Thomason on 15-07-2009 23:40 |
