 Helophilus, pendulus again?

I found a small meadow in a marshy aerea where the Helophilus'es were much lighter in colour than I normally see. Some did not have any deep yellow at all and gave the impression of being completely off-white (and black). Hi Hakon Save the Pentobarbital...I've got some Tramadol and Diclofenac painkillers which should do the job, surplus to requirements. They will screw your head for a while, but as you think these hovers were 25-30mm, then 20-25mm, reduced to 20mm in the last post, you're halfway there already  .Roger |

Yes, if I keep conforming, and with the help of your cocktail, they will be 10mm tomorrow and the day after they will not have existed at all. My excuse is that the original post was posted in a haze (which still lingers) two days after the birth of my daughter I will not argue since I am wrong, but there were definitely different sized H. pendulus there and some gave the impression of being larger and bulkier than Eristalis spp. (pertinax/tenax) which were on the same flowers. Next thing you know I will be posting while drunk  |

Congrats on the birth of your daughter Hakon. I won't ask what size she was for obvious reasons. I thought most of the postings here were sent in while under the influence of something or another...I think Andrea answers them from a Coffee House, or a sauna Roger....from my house...sober. |

Very possible, since I can't tell them apart. I will revisit that spot some day and look for them again, probably not this season though. What size can be expected from H. trivittatus? Hyperbolizer |

The four most common species in southern Norway (but there are some more!!) Helophilus affinis 14-16 mm Helophilus hybridus 14-16 mm Helophilus pendulus 11-13 mm Helophilus trivittatus 14-18 mm |
