Axymyiidae larvae live inside wet decaying wood in short tunnels. The end of breathing tube is always outside. Besides they have 2-4 anal papillae. In spite of this the larva is mobile and can move and retract breathing tube quickly. |

I think we can put it in the gallery as Protaxymyia melanoptera Mamaev & Krivosheina, 1966. I have checked - no other species were described in this genus after its description. |
