Crane Fly, but which Tipula sp.?
waso
Hello,

in summer 2007 I made this picture in the middle of Germany, close to a little lake.
Length was about 3-4cm.
No doubt that it is some crane fly, but which species?
Any help ist appreciated!

Greetings

Wahrmut

Maybe Sylvicola sp. (Anisopodidae)?

No, this is likely to be a Limoniid crane fly. I doubt the size though.

Limoniid crane fly looks quite promising.

Sorry, size including legs - this is of course a big difference.

I don't know Sylvicola sp., but the pictures of this species that I found were mostly with much shorter legs... :-S

Cheers
